FASB is Ten: Birthday Misgivings

Article Abstract:

The anniversary of the Financial Accounting Standards Board, (FASB) founded in 1973, has provoked articles and conferences throghout the United States. Many opinions are summarized. They are divided into three major categories: 1) the Board's structure and procedures, 2) the nature of its standards, and 3) the difficulties and delays over the conceptual framework. The opinions and statements appear to be quite negative and critical. However, the conclusion is that the Board is preferred over governmental regulation.

The Gagosian Gallery in New York, NY, received a gold award in the environment categiry of the 1992 I.D. Annual Design Review. The gallery facade wears a stripped-down minimalist look and incorporates the lines of the street. Inside, three parallel skylights effectively prevent a box-like impression and admit abundant natural light that is complemented by the subtle light from halogen lamps.
