Getting back to core skills
Article Abstract:
VTR plans to sell its film production division, and retains a strong position in the market for post production activities. Post production and TV commercial special effects account for four fifths of VTR's income. Machine Room and Film Factory have been integrated, which should bring cost savings. Portman has not performed well, and a partner may be found for this division, which could also be sold. VTR's profit looks set to rise to 2 million pounds sterling in 1999, according to Beeson Gregory.
