Global mind-sets and cognitive shift in a complex multinational corporation
Article Abstract:
Management strategies implemented in international businesses have been influenced by theories on the significance of managers' attitudes and perceptions concerning different business issues and challenges. Scales and statistical tests have been developed to assess the validity of these theories. This experiment showed that management theories did influence the running of one international business conglomerate. The scales and statistical tests were able to determine the extent of management's ability to comprehend and enact practices based on international management theories. The study also showed that the degree of managers' receptiveness to novel ideas, as well as coordination of different operating sectors, were interrelated and essential in the successful application of the managerial theories.

Postacquisition turnover among U.S. top management teams: an analysis of the effects of foreign vs. domestic acquisitions of U.S. targets
Article Abstract:
Top management turnover is considerably higher in US companies which have been the subject of a cross-border acquisition than in US companies which have been purchased by another US company. This effect can be felt up to five years after the acquisition. Acquisitions by Australian and Canadian companies lead to higher top management turnover compared with domestic acquisitions, while purchases from the UK lead to relatively low turnover among top management.

Predicting who stays and leaves after an acquisition: a study of top managers in multinational firms
Article Abstract:
This article examines the fate of top executives after an acquisition or merger by studying the managers' perceptions of the merger process. Results suggest that executives' perceptions of the merger announcement, their interactions with the managers of the other firms, and the long-term impact of the merger significantly influences their decision to stay with the company or leave.
