Great step forward halted?
Article Abstract:
The UK cable television industry is in a state of flux, owing to factors such as the pace of technological development, the failure of present government policy, and the need for free markets. The government has realized that limited regulation seems to work well, and the establishment of the Broadcasting Standards Council will make certain that standards for sex and violence will be set. Future development is uncertain, and is likely to follow one of two patterns: either financial uncertainty among potential franchisees will mean a slower rate of license issuance, or the present acceleration of the franchise program will continue.

Unit trusts: time to go forward
Article Abstract:
Unit trust pricing changed as of July 1, 1988, such that some unit trust management companies are dealing at unknown prices, known as forward prices. Forward pricing was promoted by the Securities and Investments Board, but it is stated that such a compromise is not in the interest of any parties involved.
