ThePortuguese tourist industry is focused on four coastal regions, the Algarve, Madeira, Porto andLisbon. Tourism accounts for 8% of Portugal's gross domestic product and 6% of employment.There was a 9% rise in tourists with 9.2 million tourists entering Portugal in 1994. Tourismaccounts for a quarter of the country's exports. The UK sends most tourisms and most UKtourists travel to the Algarve. The government aims to promote conference and sporting facilitiesin order to broaden the range of sending countries and types of tourist.

Attracting foreign capital a priority
Article Abstract:
Slovenia is in need of foreign investment, but investors are deterred by the small size of the market, transport costs and raw materials shortages. Italy, Austria and Germany account for over 80% of outside investment. Slovenia had sought foreign investment prior to independence. Foreign investors are free to invest in every sector save for communications and transport and the defense industry. Repatriation is without restriction for profit and capital investment.
