Making connections
Article Abstract:
Senior corporate executives must realize that an organizational problem needs to be tackled from an organizational standpoint instead of as an isolated issue. This was highlighted by the experience of one company that suffered financial losses and negative publicity due to negligent environmental controls. The company's preoccupation with productivity and profits created a culture that have little regard for environmental protection. The problem was resolved not through increased control on pollutants but through corporate-wide employee commitment to the issue.

Throwing away the mould
Article Abstract:
Dee Hock, founder and CEO emeritus of USA believes that business organizations should be "chaordic." The term, coined by Hock, means that organizations must be adaptive and self-organizing, combining the aspects of chaos and order. Existing companies need to change their command and control structures from rigid, bureaucratic and formal procedures into simple and adjustable systems. Organizations need to assess the internal model, what is its corporate structure and how it should function.
