Harmonizing professional standards in ergonomics while recognizing diversity
Article Abstract:
It is difficult but at the same time necessary to establish standards for ergonomics since people in the field usually have different but related professional backgrounds and sometimes do not have formal training in ergonomics. Ergonomics was established as an interdisciplinary field and has had to develop its own repository of knowledge. Standards of practice for the field could include developing both training and continuing education programs ensuring common competencies. A plan in favor of the delineation of core ergonomics skills is given.

Ergonomics issues in future systems
Article Abstract:
Some historical background to the design of systems and the development of systems thinking, from the perspective of Ergonomics is discussed. An attempt is made to describe the likely future for system design and operation with the critical points being that these systems will interoperate with other systems, will be long-lived and their failure would not be afforded.

Time in ergonomics research
Article Abstract:
Time in ergonomics can be described as how an operator deals with dynamic situations. A current picture of research is given with various case studies of temporal mistakes and ergonomic solutions. The mistakes are looked at in different ways and each time the ergonomical implications are described.
