CMP consolidating its Web efforts

Technology media company CMP Media is planning on establishing a huge corporate Web site which will provide advertisers a single way for playing CMP on the Internet. CMPnet is expected to overtake Ziff-Davis Publishing Co.'s ZDNet as the main Web site among computer publishing giants. However, International Data Group has been establishing a corporate site called Retriever for eight months and will launch before CMP.

Ammirati may be biggest winner in Compaq's deal to buy DDB-client Digital
Article Abstract:
Digital Equipment Corp.'s advertising budget of $140 million is expected to join Compaq Computer's advertising budget of $200 million at Ammirati Puris Lintas when the merger is complete. Digital's advertising agency was DDB Needham Worldwide. Advertising expenditures will be decided when the merger is completed by mid-1998. Other agencies that Compaq uses may lose their contracts.
