Hogg Robinson is benefiting from a trend toward outsourcing of travel services among UK companies. The company reported a 51% rise in pre-tax profit, excluding an exceptional loss of 3.1 million pounds sterling for 1995. Bennett Travel was acquired in Jun 1995 and has contributed to profits. Outsourcing: pressed-for-time firms call on expert teams
Article Abstract:
Outsourcing is becoming increasingly important in the UK, allowing companies to focus on their core activities and hive off peripheral services such as vehicle fleets, canteens and security. This allows experts to be employed in these areas and cost savings can be made as well as allowing managers to perform better in the company's core activities. The UK market for business support services is forecast to grow to 80 billion pounds sterling by 2000 from 64 billion pounds in 1993.

First class link-up
Article Abstract:
Premier Direct is a display marketing specialist which has set up an alliance with DS-MAX, a larger company in the same field that is based in Canada. This alliance will give Premier Direct greater buying power. Premier is also establishing Direct 2000, a second network with a sales force of its own. Premier may carry out distribution of DS-MAX products in the United Kingdom, and DS-MAX may make an offer for Premier Direct, since DS-MAX does not have a UK operation.
