How to Avoid New Product Blues

The food industry is continually introducing new products. The majority of these new food introductions are unsuccessful. The few products that gain acceptance seem to share some commonalities; new product programs should locate a changing area that a new product can relate to. A particular niche should be identified. Programs should be the innovation leader. Most important, use advertising to promote the innovation.

The works of Mikhael Subotzky, a native of Cape Town, whose picture of three prisons near Cape Town won the Michaelis prize for best undergraduate portfolio at the University of Cape Town's Michaelis School of Fine Arts in November 2004, are described. He believes that taking photographs comforts him in the attempt to understand the world.
