Interactions between memory scanning and visual scanning in display monitoring
Article Abstract:
A model based on a memory scanning and a visual scanning model accurately predicts task performance only under some conditions. Individuals monitoring system errors in a group of instruments are tested for memory scanning using the number of memorized items, and visual scanning using the number of instruments. Accurate prediction of the individual's response time requires the addition of other behavioral and task-related components to the model when the memorized items vary between trials. Individuals using a small set of memorized items make fewer mistakes than those using a large set.

Visual lobe shape and search performance for targets of different difficulty
Article Abstract:
The visual lobes of the subjects of a study were mapped to arrive at a systematic and quantitative comparison of the characteristics of lobe shape and also to investigate the correlation of visual lobe shape characteristics with visual search time under the effect of target difficulty. The results assisted the development of a universal mathematical model containing several lobe shape indices that could be used to predict the visual search time for similar work tasks.
