Is relationship lending special? Evidence from credit-file data in Germany
Article Abstract:
The premise that German housebanks are capable of developing a distinct behavioral pattern suitable with the premise of long-term commitment was demonstrated. It was found that housebanks do offer liquidity insurance in circumstances of unforseen decline of borrower ratings. In relation to loan pricing, no proof of support to intra- or intertemporal price differentiation associated with housebanking was observed.
