Keel laid for first General Dynamics LCS: Etter sees new missions for Littoral Combat Ships
Article Abstract:
Delores Etter, Assistant Secretary of the US Navy for research, development and acquisition, has set her initials authenticating the keel for a first Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) to be built by General Dynamics Corporation and Austal, USA. Etter was enthusiastic that the missions which the LCS can perform will be unlimited because of the interchangeable mission modules that can be on-loaded or off-loaded from the LCSs and it will not be necessary to change a basic ship in order to change capabilities on the vessel.

Northrop chief says payment due for aircraft carrier delay
Article Abstract:
Ronald Sugar, chairman, CEO and president of Northrop Grumman Corp reported that the delay in building the next-generation CVN 21 aircraft carrier would cost $1 billion to Navy if the estimate by the Congressional Research Service were correct. The estimate also indicates that with the delay and other factors, CVN 21 could carry a price tag of more than $1.3 billion, rather than official $11.7 billion cost estimate.
