Lawmakers say meager Navy ship funds will savage contractors

More than 11 percent of House members signed a letter to Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld stating that a tight-fisted navy budget plan would worry defense contractors who are expected to build vessels of war. This proposal would cut and delay the construction of surface ships and such as the next generation DD(X) destroyers and CVN 21 aircraft carrier by a year.
