Article Abstract:
The move by the US Department of Defense (DOD) not to have a second supplier of jet engines for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) is criticized by senior Congressman, Rep. Curt Weldon, who demands that the DOD provide a solid analysis for the decision. Deepwater program to use Sikorsky HH-60 instead of AV-139
Article Abstract:
The Coast Guard would be utilizing refurbished and upgraded Sikorsky HH-60 helicopter as its Medium Range Recovery Helicopter (MRR) for Deepwater program instead of buying the AB139 helicopter by Bell Agusta. The Sikorsky helicopter was selected because it would fulfill the requirements better than AB-139 and it would also save $500 million that could be used to help finance other components of the Deepwater acquisition program.
