Research suggests a very clear link between leadership development and the financial success of a company. Experts believe that great leaders tend to have at least one of seven characteristics, namely, a genuine passion for improvement, congruence, flexibility in leadership style, an ability to provide clarity and purpose, people skills, a willingness to listen and learn, and the X factor, the qualities that make a great leader.

The discrimination of the employees on the basis of their age will become illegal for the UK employers from October 1, 2006, which is described as the biggest change to employment legislation. The UK Department of Trade and Industry has drafted Employment Equality (Age) Regulations 2006, which imposes a default retirement age of 65 and gives employees the right to request continued employment after that age.
