Legend: first of a new breed
Article Abstract:
Tetra Business Systems Ltd's Legend is one of the first accounting programs designed for microcomputers running OS/2. OS/2 allows Legend to run several modules simultaneously and it is only restricted by memory capacity. Legend is designed for self contained departments and decentralized companies. Legend features sales, purchase and nominal ledgers, with sales analysis and other modules available separately. Legend comes with more than 50 programs that require 8Mb of memory and 180 data files that require another 2Mb of memory. Users should be considering using 100Mb of memory or more for disk storage. The documentation is easy to follow, but it contains poor installation notes. The system also has some faults, but they are easy to correct.

A problem-solving package for the tax accountant
Article Abstract:
Datasolve's Taxpoint is a personal tax computer program for accountants. It produces full supporting schedules, tax computations, tax returns, form 930, SRF transfer/withdrawal computations, assessments, and standard letters. It can also mimic official forms which are acceptable by the Inland Revenue, when used with a laser printer. It runs on Compaq 286/386 computers, IBM-XT/ATs, and true clones as a single user network. It is an innovative, understandable program, but more artistry in designing the individual screens would have made it better. Taxpoint costs 3,600 pounds sterling, plus an ongoing charge of 130 pounds per month.
