Leisure attractions
Article Abstract:
Waterfall has seen a drop in its stock price since the abandonment of merger talks with Springwood, but other United Kingdom leisure companies have also seen stock price falls. European Leisure has increased its stake in the company and could make a bid for Waterfall. The company's main business involves low-ticket services with a great deal of potential growth. Waterfall's profit is estimated at 2.6 million pounds sterling for 1997 to 1998, according to Panmure Gordon, and the company could achieve a profit of 3.9 million pounds for 1998 to 1999.

Saying goodbye to GBP564m
Article Abstract:
UK brewer Scottish & Newcastle's (S&N) venture into holiday villages cost it some GBP564 mil between 1989 and 2000, but the stock market's response to this has been muted. S&N's experiences with Center Parcs and Pontins are a typical example of big business throwing money at diversification projects.
