Uncivil action
Article Abstract:
The case filed by 1,808 current and former residents of Woburn, MA, against EI DuPont de Nemours and Co signals the importance of including environmental issues in risk management. The residents alleged that home values in the area have plummeted due to the seepage of toxic wastes in underground water. They contend that the contamination of the underground water was caused by DuPont's indiscriminate toxic waste dumping at its Pompton Lakes Works site. Thus, DuPont is facing millions of dollars in environmental remediation and damages that may arise from the litigation.
