Levels of trust: seals of assurance that vouch for web-site security are designed to enhance client and consumer confidence in conducting business over the Internet

Assurance providers such as the International Computer Security Association, TRUSTe and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants provide a seal of assurance which is aimed at offering consumers with details to make them feel safe when conducting business on the Internet. However, the promises made by the three assurance providers may not always remain true. Consumers should know that the information they give on the Internet is safeguarded on the host's network via effective security measures.

Article Abstract:
The advantages that the Internet can provide to companies have been largely overlooked or downplayed by CEOs and other top management for security reasons. Several tips for maximizing the potential of information technology in firms were addressed at the 1997 Canadian Conference on Auditing and Computer Technology. Firms must recognize the effects of information technology on employees, update the skills of their workers, and restructure security against information leakage.
