Lionheart is a UK housewares and bathroom products concern which plans to restructure and raise 4 million pounds sterling. The company faced problems in 1992 when demand fell due to problems in the UK housing market. Sloane, a shop display concern, was sold in May 1995, and this reduced the company's debt. Hamilton Acorn is also to be sold, for 4.9 million poounds. The company reported a trading profit of 1.1 million pounds from continuing business for 1995, an improvement on a loss of 2.2 million pounds for 1994, but still faces challenges with its bathroom business.

Readicut has sold 10 out of 13 businesses since 1997 and borrowings are now down to 27% of shareholders' funds. The company's US polypropylene plan has been expanding and it is now the US market leader in coloured polypropylene. It has a similar sized plant in the UK which is market leader in Europe. The company also makes vinyl for vinyl wallpapers, and it is planning to invest 2.5 million pounds sterling on a plastisol production facility. Its subsidiary, Hoyland Fox, makes umbrella frames for golf and promotional brollies.

The company has focused on Croydex accessories, selling its DIY businesses. Croydex has a stake of over 10% in a market valued at some 150 million pounds sterling annually. The company's profit is forecast at 1.1 million pounds sterling for 1997 and 1.4 million pounds for 1998 by Collins Stewart.
