Postural load during VDU work: a comparison between various work postures
Article Abstract:
Researchers examined the postural load for a range of positions which might be adopted by a visual display unit operator. They used electromyography to measure muscle load and inclinometers to measure postural angles. The results demonstrated that the posture which produced the least postural load was when the operator was seated with forearms supported. However, the sitting position without forearm support creates more load on the trapezius muscles than standing without forearm support. The researchers found no difference in direction of gaze with two different sightline angles.

Reproducibility and stability of normalized EMG measurements on musculus trapezius
Article Abstract:
Electromyographic (EMG) measurements of data entry operators show that online biofeedback calibration gives reproducible results. This can be used to achieve reproducible and stable normalized EMG measurements. Keeping methodical errors to a minimum, the technique is acceptable for use in long term studies even if the recordings are performed with variations in electrode positions. EMG measurements of data entry operators doing similar work were compared using the results from one EMG measurement on musculus trapezius.

Endurance time, pain and resumption in passive loading of the elbow joint
Article Abstract:
Reactions in passively loaded, fully extended elbow joints in 13 men were investigated and pain reactions during and after loading were estimated with Borg's CR-10 scale. Endurance time, Tend, fell with increasing load level, although the higher the load, held until Tend, the shorter the resumption time Tr. Pain restricting working ability originated mostly from muscle tissue rather than from the joint itself.
