Lockheed Martin says GE chosen for Air Force helicopter bid

A U.S. jet engine maker, General Electric Co. over Rolls Royce is selected by the team U.S.101, a consortium led by Lockheed Martin Corp., for a helicopter being offered to the Air Force. The Air Force plans to purchase a substantial number of personnel recovery helicopters, known as combat search and rescue helicopter, to rescue downed pilots and for other missions.

HDW sees rapid sales of super-silent fuel cell submarine
Article Abstract:
Howaldswerke-Deutshe Werft AG(HDW) reported that it is enjoying rapid sales of hard-to-detect fuel-cell-powered class of submarine both for German navy and forces abroad. HDW developed the difficult-to-detect boat in response to advances in technologies where the fuel cell produces electricity from hydrogen and oxygen in a noiseless process.

Hybrid-technology power moves from cars to ships

Naval ships might soon be running on electricity generated by fuel cells. The Office of Naval Research is working with the Department of Energy in Idaho Falls, on integrated fuel processor that is compatible with a proton exchange membrane fuel cell.
