Looking down the road: (financial executives expect corporate earnings to fall in the fourth quarter)
Article Abstract:
A survey conducted by Duke University's Fuqua School of Business indicated that 22% of 636 financial executives expected lower corporate earnings in the fourth quarter of 1996 versus 14% in the third quarter. This finding coincides with the increase of quarterly insider sales for this year compared to previous years suggesting that insiders have increased their selling as a result of anticipated lower earnings by their firms. It is suggested that executives who are selling despite good earnings reported by their firms are also expecting lower earnings in forthcoming quarters.
