Monte-Carlo simulation of stochastic flow
Article Abstract:
The Hirst Division of GEC-Marconi Materials Technology has been looking at applications of the Monte-Carlo simulation of stochastic flows, which is used in some aspects of road traffic modelling. It was found that the micro-modelling Monte-Carlo approach can give considerable detail regarding a number of traffic phenomena. The model developed at GEC-Marconi Materials Technology, designed to boost understanding of the link between the driver's behaviour and the phenomena which cause congestion and traffic breakdown, can have a number of individual or group applications.
