From XML to RDF: How semantic web technologies will change the design of 'omic' standards
Article Abstract:
The study discusses why semantic web technologies, as recommended by the World Wide Web consortium (W3C), expand data standard technology for biological data representation and management. The aim is to discuss the need and options to go beyond the currently preferred choice of extensible markup language (XML) as a standard technology to represent biological data.

Data quality in genomics and microarrays
Article Abstract:
There is a need to implement universal genomic data quality control standards to achieve an improvement in the reliability of microarray technologies in basic and clinical research. The MicroArray Quality Consortium (MAQC) and the External RNA Controls Consortium (ERCC) are two comprehensive efforts that assess and compare gene expression data.
