McDonald's served 31 mil persons in 2000

McDonald's CR (Prague, Czech Republic), fast food restaurant company, expects a turnover of CEK 1.75 bil in 2001. The firm served 31.4 mil customers in 2000, 15% more compared to 1999. It commissioned seven new restaurants in 2000 and plans to open 5-7 new per year prospectively. The final number of the firm's restaurants should be about 100. Currently, the firm has 60 restaurants in the Czech Republic. McDonald's CR had a total of 3,156 employees at the end of Dec 2000, 256 persons more compared to the end of 1999. The firm's main competitor is KFC, which saw proceeds of CEK 375.9 mil at its 12 restaurants in 2000.

Beer production grew slightly in 2000

Czech Republic: A total of 17.9 mil hl of beer was produced in the Czech Republic in 2000, 70,000 hl more compared to 1999. About 6.1 mil hl of the 2000 total beer production was represented by lager and the rest by taproom beer. Small breweries, which produce less than 200,000 hl of beer per year, represented 17% of the total Czech beer production in 2000 compared to 15.5% in 1999. Over 50% of the 2000 total beer production was ensured by breweries with the production of over 1 mil hl.

The firm saw proceeds of CEK 377.7 mil for 1Q 2001, 11% more compared to 1Q 2000. The domestic restaurants of the world's largest fast food network served about 7.16 mil consumers for 1Q 2001.
