A new industrial zone is being built in Zlin

Article Abstract:

Czech Republic: A new industrial zone is being built in Zlin. The zone's area will be 10 ha during the first stage and could be enlarged to nearly 18 ha prospectively. Fusch Europlastics, sole and beach shoe manufacturer, has decided to invest in the construction of a new plant in the zone. The investment costs on the project should be CEK 180 mil. The construction should be started by the end of 2001. Another investor in the zone will be Tescoma (Zlin, Czech Republic), kitchen supply and appliance manufacturer. Tescoma will invest CEK 350 mil in the construction of an administrative, logistic and production centre on an area of 75,000 sq mt in the zone. The construction should be started by the end of 2001.

Severoceske Doly invests more than CEK 1 bil

Article Abstract:

Severoceske doly (SD) (Chomutov, Czech Republic), mining firm, has invested CEK 1.12 bil in the renovation of its technology. The investments were used for the purchase of two new large mining machines from Vitkovice Prodeco (Teplice, Czech Republic). SD saw a net profit of CEK 827 mil in 2000, 20.87% less compared to 1999. Its extraction volume increased by 4% to 22.142 mil t of coal in 2000 compared to 1999. SD has a stock of CEK 8.834 bil. It has a 54% majority stake held by the National Property Fund and a 38% stake by the power firm CEZ (Czech Republic).
