Meeting the needs of a new breed of client
Article Abstract:
Neilson Cobbold is a stockbroker from north west England, and offers a range of services from execution-only to full management. Private clients account for nine tenths of the company's business. Private clients did not fully learn about the market from privatization issues, and more emphasis should be made on education, the company argues. Clients can be serviced from a wide range of locations due to developments in telecommunications. New money started to enter Liverpool from 1993, though it is too early to speak of recovery.

Brokers settle down in a changed marketplace
Article Abstract:
Stockbrokers are faced with increased competition in Manchester, England, in 1995. Manchester brokers tend to specialise in advisory investment management rather than the execution-only market which is tackled by the larger houses. Henry Cooke has been in talks related to a possible merger but has decided against this move. Other brokers in Manchester include Tilney and Co, Pilling and Co and John Siddall and Son. The trend is toward companies with wealthy parents, and further mergers may be carried out.
