Meggitt
Article Abstract:
Meggitt is an electronics and aerospace engineer which has acquired Whittaker, a US company that produces aircraft fire detection systems and control valves. The aircraft industry will account for two thirds of Meggitt's sales following the acquisition. The aftermarket accounts for nearly half of the sales of Whittaker, and profit margins are higher for the aftermarket than for original sales. Whittaker should be able to cut costs as a result of the merger.
