Still plenty of cream for fat cats
Article Abstract:
United Kingdom directors' pay has become more transparent, but sums paid have changed little, and very large payments are still common. British Aerospace chief executive, Richard Evans, received a 28% salary rise in 1997, with basic pay and bonuses both rising by similar amounts. The trend of higher pay is likely to continue, and it is stockholders who have to fund these pay rises, while executives may also be given stock options as well as higher pay.
