Memories of Africa smell like coffee

Ebel (Prague, Czech Republic), coffee roasting and wholesale firm, has a 0.1% share on the Czech instant and roast coffee market. About 2 t of coffee goes through the firm's warehouse every month. The firm's owner Mrs. Malgorzatta Ebel purchases green coffee on the exchanges in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, and Hamburg, Germany. The coffee is roasted at a rented coffee roasting plant in northern Bohemia. In the Old Town of Prague, the firm has a coffee-house named Ebel Coffee House (Prague, Czech Republic). It was commissioned with the help of several Americans, who hold a 60% stake in it. Ebel has other coffee houses in Brno, Ceske Budejovice, Liberec and Tesin, all Czech Republic. At the end of Apr 2001, the firm will commission another coffee-house in Prague. Besides, it plans to open another shop. In Prague-Stare Mesto, Ebel has a tea and coffee shop called Memories of Africa. The shop was opened in Feb 1997.

The largest kitchen furniture manufacturer strengthens his market position

Koryna (Korycany, Czech Republic), kitchen furniture company, plans to invest roughly CEK 24 mil in 2001, primarily in the automation of furniture assemblies. In the seven years till 2000 the company invested CEK 750 mil in new machinery, new shops, and the reconstruction of the existing equipment. Koryna is the largest kitchen furniture manufacturer in the Czech Republic. In 2000 the company strengthened its market share to 40%. It has about 70 shops and 1,000 employees. In 2000 Koryna saw proceeds of CEK 890 mil, up CEK 90 mil from 1999. The firm exports up to 30% of its production, above all to Slovakia, Hungary and Russia. It also has representative offices in Israel and the United Arab Emirates.

Ahold will connect Prima with Hypernova

Ahold CZ (Ricany u Prahy, Czech Republic), retailer, will reduce the number of its trade lines from three to two from May 2001. The megamarkets Prima will become a part of the chain of the hypermarkets Hypernova. Ahold CZ increased its proceeds by nearly 29% to CEK 23.46 bil in 2000 compared to 1999. The firm maintained its position of the largest retailer in the Czech Republic. Ahold CZ is a subsidiary of the multinational company Royal Ahold (Netherlands).
