Menstrual effects on a VDT-based simulation task: cognitive indices and subjective ratings

Article Abstract:

Women were examined as to their premenstrual, menstrual and postmenstrual phases to study the effects of menstrual cycle in task performance, information processing and cognition. They were required to accomplish a pattern-matching task on a visual display terminal (VDT) and make specific inferences about the quality of patterns shown. Individual differences emerged as one of the strongest factors, instead of the menstrual cycle. Cognitive faculties, task performance and information processing are not affected by menstrual cycles.

Ranges of dynamic motion of the wrist in healthy young and middle-aged men

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to examine differences in the range of wrist motion between young andmiddle-aged men. The study employed a quantitative evaluation technique for wrist circumduction by applying a biaxial flexible electrogoniometer. Twelve young men and twelve middle-aged men in healthy conditions were tested for the study. Results show that motor function of the radiocarpal and midcarpal jointsof middle-aged men was not reduced while proximal and distal radioulnar joint functions in the non-dominant side decreased.
