The world global custody market is undergoing consolidation and this is partly die to market volatility in developing economies. A number of companies have already left the sector, such as Barclays, Natwest, Warburg and JP Morgan. Companies have to operate on a global scale using sophisticated technology and they need the backing of senior management. The industry will also be affected by European monetary union, though its impact is uncertain.
