Millenium and Copthorne (M and C) aims to raise 150 million pounds sterling through a flotation in April 1996. The flotation putsthe company's value at 350 million pounds sterling. M and C's parent company is CDL, which will retain a stake of 58%. Occupancy rates are improving in the hotel trade world wide as the economy recovers. M and C focuses on four-star hotels, with Copthorne focusing on standard hotels, and Millenium focusing on luxury four-star hotels.

There are involved in short breaks, conferences and business trade. Additional hotels would mean little increase in overheads. The company's turnover was 102 million pounds sterling for the year to Mar 1996, up from 63.3 million three years previously. The company aims to raise 133 million pounds sterling from the flotation.
