"Computer-free" printers multiply in the marketplace

Olympus, Sony, Panasonic, JVC, Lexmark, Kodak and Hewlett-Packard are some of the makers of desktop printers that have introduced new models for use with digital cameras. These printers have built-in memory card slots or the digital cameras can be attached to the units for downloading the images. For instance, Sony's DPP-MS300 dye-sub color printer uses a Memory Stick for direct printing for images captured by Sony Cyber-shot digital still cameras and Handycam camcorders.

Innovative design trends in consumer market scanners
Article Abstract:
Scanner manufacturers are developing and have introduced products for advanced digital photo hobbyists. Research on scanner use indicate that most users use scanners for image capture and not for scanning documents or other text purposes. The most popular products are flatbed scanners which were owned by 88% of respondents surveyed in the study. Among the companies which have introduced products targeted at the digital and the hobbyist photo imaging market are Hewlett-Packard, Fujifilm, Kodak, Canon and Olympus.
