Mixing and matching
Article Abstract:
Self-select personal equity plans (Peps) allow United Kingdom investors greater flexibility than conventional plans. They allow investors to monitor the performance of their funds more easily as well as move rapidly when needed. Investors may be restricted to direct investment in equities with some self-select Peps, and they may also find they cannot invest in unit trusts. A minimum holding size may also be imposed. The acceptability of such restrictions depends on the investor's style.

Peps with a mission
Article Abstract:
The two most important financial considerations for savers are the purchasing of a house and saving for their retirement. Personal equity plans (PEPs) are a cost-effective way of saving and are a flexible alternative to mortgages and pension schemes. Pre-packaged PEPs offer a combination of savings and insurance products. Among the packages available are Capital House's Synergy Mortgage PEP and Ivory and Sime's TrustWorthy Mortgage PLan.
