Modem living
Article Abstract:
The modem is the device that determines the speed at which users can transmit and receive data. This tool, which links the computer to the telephone line, comes in various designs, which may make selection a difficult task. Users have to understand how and why the modem functions and study the related technology to make the selection process much easier. When evaluating different options, they should determine the maximum speed, first and foremost. The fastest are the 56 Kbps modems. However, these modems do not accommodate modems with lower speeds, unlike other types. Moreover, there are two standards of 56 Kbps modems, the X2 and the K56flex, which are incompatible with each other. However, the International Telecommunications Union is already working to deal with this matter.

It's good for computers to talk
Article Abstract:
Electronic commerce involves the electronic sharing of business-related information among different organization through the use of electronic communication. It allows the direct transfer of information from the computer of the sender to the computer of the recipient, usually through telephone lines, without requiring printing at any stage. The most important benefits of electronic commerce are speedier distribution of information, lower administrative requirements, reduced costs, efficiency gains and ease of use. In the UK, retail and manufacturing companies have long embraced electronic commerce. Companies that are planning to engage in electronic commerce should take into consideration the information to be exchanged and security concerns to ensure success.

Printing at a price
Article Abstract:
The purchase of computer printers needs careful consideration since they are now considered a basic office equipment. Even a speedy computer will prove useless if its printer jams, produces smudgy printouts or has difficulty performing simple tasks. There are a number of factors that need to be considered when buying a printer. These include the purchase price, cost of ownership, speed, work volume, output quality and color. An inkjet or a dot matrix printer is ideal when only a few documents are printed weekly. A dot matrix is particularly useful when continuous paper is used and large numbers of columns need to be printed. The more costly laser printers are recommended when speed and print volume are prime considerations.
