Money talks
Article Abstract:
The corporate banking industry in Manchester, England, is enjoying good conditions for growth, as is noted by NatWest's Wade Martin, who sees both robust and sustainable growth in the region. NatWest is market leader in the region with some 34% of the corporate market, and Barclays holds 20%. There is intense competition and banks aim to retain clients as less expensive than seeking to attract new clients. Private banks in the region include Coutts and Adam and Co.

Not so fixed
Article Abstract:
UK interest rates are likely to rise so borrowers seeking fixed rate mortgages should buy these rapidly. They should be wary of penalties for early redemption, and other possible problems such as having to purchase buildings insurance from the lender. Savers are being offered higher rates though these are still lower than three years prior to 1997. Savers should be wary of locking themselves into low rates of interest since rates are likely to rise.
