Myers: Military alone can't win in Iraq
Article Abstract:
General Richard Myers, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff addressed the Senate Appropriations Committee members that military force on its own would not be able to achieve the U.S. goal of a democratic Iraqi state. It is expected that the Bush administration would make a $25 billion supplemental request to fund the Iraqi conflict above and beyond the $401.7 billion request, which did not include funding of Iraq war.

GAO faults Pentagon on supply lines
Article Abstract:
The Government Accountability Office revealed that the combat readiness of US armed forces stands compromised due to the inadequate attention paid by the Pentagon to its advance supply lines, putting both troops and billions of acquisition dollars at risk. One factor contributing to this lapse is the excessive demand placed upon the armed forces by the war in Iraq.
