Article Abstract:
Harris Corp., Melbourne, Fla., is being awarded a $6,238,162 competitive indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for the Navy AN/WSC-8(V) SHF Terminal Program. This contract is for the production of single and dual satellite terminals designed to transmit official voice and data at rates up to 1.544 Megabits per second. The terminals will provide survivable, wartime command and control communications for designated commanders and their assigned forces and will communicate with/through INTELSAT satellite transponders with global coverage. This contract contains three one-year options which, if exercised, will bring the cumulative value of the contract to $25,200,221. Work will be performed in Melbourne, Fla., Bolingbrook, Ill., South Plainfield, N.J., and Stevenage Hertshire, England, and is expected to be completed by July 1999. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured via the internet with four offers received. DBA Systems, Inc., Melbourne, Fla., is being awarded a $7,461,777 indefinite-delivery/ indefinite-quantity contract with firm-fixed pricing for the production of submarine very low frequency/low frequency VMEbus radio communications receiver sets and spare parts. This replaces existing equipment in use on submarines and at fixed shore stations. This open architecture, microprocessor-based, multi-channel and multi-mode communication system makes extensive use of commercial-off-the-shelf components and previously developed software. This contract contains four one-year options which, if exercised, will bring the total cumulative value to $73,751,229. Work will be performed in Melbourne, Fla., and is expected to be completed by July 1999. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured with 49 proposals solicited and six offers received.
