Article Abstract:
CMS Defense Systems, Inc., Titusville, Fla., is being awarded a $6,999,929 firm-fixed-price contract for refurbishment of shoulder-launched multipurpose assault weapon (SMAW) high explosive dual purpose encased assault rockets (HEDP EARS) for the U.S. Marine Corps. This contract contains options which, if exercised, will bring the cumulative value of this contract to $18,705,347. There are a total of 46,046 HEDP EARS that require refurbishing. Work will be performed in Titusville, Fla. (60%), and Wiggins, Miss. (40%), and is expected to be completed in April 2000 (October 2002 inclusive with options). Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The contract was competitively procured via the world wide web and two offers were received. The Naval Surface Weapons Center, Dahlgren, Va., is the contracting activity (N00178-99-C-1004).

Northrop Grumman Corp., Electronic Sensors and Systems Div., Annapolis, Md., is being awarded a $14,325,584 cost-plus-incentive-fee contract for the common broadband advanced sonar system (CBASS) engineering manufacturing development and support. CBASS is a modification program for the MK48 advanced capability heavyweight torpedo allowing for improved counter measure performance and improved shallow water detection capabilities. Work will be performed in Annapolis, Md. (90%), and Cleveland, Ohio (10%), and is expected to be completed by July 2003. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. Lockheed Martin Tactical Defense Systems, Archbald, Pa., is being awarded a $15,480,000 letter contract for FY 97-98 procurement of 2,700 laser guided training rounds. These rounds are expendable training devices which allow for proper deployment of laser guided munitions. These particular rounds are used on A6E, F-14, and F/A-18 C/D aircraft. Work will be performed in Archbald, Pa., and is expected to be completed by January 2000. Contract funds will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year.
