New defense standards body OK on anti-trust, EU: contractors
Article Abstract:
An ocean-spanning joint initiative of 28 top-tier defense contractors have predicted that the common standards for network-centric systems will not be facing anti-trust or trade problems with European Union or United States regulators. The membership for the group, called the Network Centric Operations Industry Consortium (NCOIC), is still open and by paying annual membership fees to the group, corporations could obtain the ability to influence just what standards are established.

Lawmaker: China reaps U.S. money, buys Naval Forces

Representative Roscoe Bartlett from Maryland, chairman of the House armed committee projection forces subcommittee said that China was scooping up immense amounts of money form American consumers, and then splurging on a major new navy. He attributes the burgeoning clout of China, a monetary muscle that the Asian nation is amassing, in part to a lopsided trade balance with the US.
