New financial statistics privatisation: recent trends
Article Abstract:
A large number of privatization transactions were negotiated worldwide in 1997. Countries belonging to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development attracted retail and institutional investors through stock offerings. With the exception of China, most countries have set future privatization targets, which were more optimistic than the previous ones. However, the overall financial instability in Asia has dampened the influx of foreign investments.

Ageing-induced capital flows to emerging markets do not solve the basic pension problem in the OECD area
Article Abstract:
Newly industrialized countries benefit from the pension funds of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. They reduce the financial pressures of an ageing population and additional investment is infused in capital markets to reduce its volatility. Although the pension schemes were funded by private and public sectors, there is no assurance that their use can change an economy for the better.
