New town, new challenges
Article Abstract:
Milton Keynes, England, is a new town which ranks highly as a business location with a number of advantages such as available land and a central position in England. The Milton Keynes Development Corp has been wound up but this has little impact on large firms which are attracted by Milton Keynes' infrastructure. Smaller firms have an important role in the local economy and they would have benefited from the continuation of the development corporation for help in areas such as finding affordable office space.

Great expectations
Article Abstract:
English Partnerships is a United Kingdom government agency that helps regenerate buildings and land in order to promote economic growth and improve the environment. The agency works with voluntary bodies and the private and public sectors. The Midlands region of England accounts for over 25% of the agency's development spending. Strategies are being developed for West Midland locations. One major task the agency has to tackle is the redevelopment of sites formerly owned by British Coal.
