No big deal...
Article Abstract:
Mid-range management buy-outs of 50 million pounds sterling or under account for 95% of the United Kingdom market and can offer very good opportunities for investors. There is intense competition for the larger deals, and there were only 25 deals worth over 50 million pounds in the UK during 1996. Backers can more easily move on to other opportunities if smaller deals are not suitable and this imposes some discipline. Such deals may not have the glamor of bigger deals but they have good potential for long-term returns.

The risk of briskness
Article Abstract:
Investors may seek a rapid exit from management buy-outs, though this ignores the role of private capital in identifying long term investment opportunities. Solid, organic growth can be obtained from good-quality private companies and long-term investments can boost total returns. It is also important to protect managers' roles since managers usually understand their business better than financial managers, however shrewd they may be.
