Nuclear transfer cloning and the United Nations
Article Abstract:
Issues related to the proposal of a global ban on all the forms of human nuclear clone transfer and the stands taken by the United Nations in implementing it are presented. The ban on reproductive human cloning could be considered as a humanitarian measure, however, at the same time the manner in which the ban is sought should be considered carefully in order to avoid problems in the future.

The death of a patient undergoing gene therapy trial testing a rheumatoid arthritis treatment has raised questions about the institutional review boards (IRBs). The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) declares that IRBs, whether for-profit or traditional, are required to follow FDA regulations.

Merck's HIV vaccine flop brings vectors under closer scrutiny

The benefits and limitations of the use of disabled cold virus as a vector in vaccines targeted against HIV are presented. The safety of the use of certain vectors in vaccines has become a concern after the failure of Merck's V520 HIV vaccine.
