On investment banker monitoring in the new issues market
Article Abstract:
An analysis of lead investment bank monitoring during the post-initial public offering (IPO) stage reveals that there is a demand for this activity in the IPO market. The reputation of the investment bank and the unaffiliated analysts following the IPO firm are also found to be positively correlated with the post-issue operating and investment performance. The issuing of underwriter warrants by IPO firms does not necessarily lead to better performance than similar non-warrant issuing firms.
