It basically enlists the services of third parties to determine popular products and considers customer and supplier suggestions. Products are sold within fixed time periods called Buy-Cycles, wherein buyers pool their purchasing power to get the bet price. The greater the number of buyers who commit to a product, the greater the savings.

McDonald's Corp of Oak Brook, IL, is offering individual and multipacks of McFoto-branded 200-, 400- and 800-speed 35mm film, along with single-use cameras. They are also offering outlabbed processing. The trial was began in five restaurants but has expanded to additional restaurants in Michigan. The company offers coupons for a McFoto flash camera for $4.99 and a four-pack of 200 speed film for $4.99. The single-use cameras and film are supplied by Ferrania Imaging Technologies.

A vast assortment of digital products such as cameras and minilabs will be featured at the Photo Marketing Association 99 at the Las Vegas Convention Center on Feb 18-21, 1999. For instance, Rochester, NY-based Eastman Kodak Co and Tokyo, Japan-based Fuji Photo Film Company Ltd are leading the efforts in reducing teh prices of digital cameras. More cameras are also expected to support the new Universal Serial Bus, which is gaining popularity because of itsadoption by Apple Computer Inc for new iMac computer.
