Our observations of current insider trends
Article Abstract:
A review of insiders' accumulating and selling activities is discussed. The sectors that were evaluated are oil and gas production, real estate investment trusts, integrated oils/oil refiners and marketers, electric and gas utilities, oil service companies, semiconductor equipment companies and manufacturers, computer software and hardware companies, paper and forest product companies, and major and regional banks. Analysis shows that insiders are more defensive of their accumulations and are also hesitant to sell due to sluggish overall selling.

In the wake of Oxford Health Plans
Article Abstract:
The emergence of significant insider selling in companies with high level of institutional ownership, such as Oxford Health Plans (OHP), can be a signal for investors to prepare for bad news. The combination of significant insider selling and high institutional ownership could result in a volatile situation. On Oct. 27, 1997, when the stock market dropped to 550 points, OHP's shares declined to over 60%. OHP has a high 95% level of institutional ownership.
